Stay
Perched atop a cliff overlooking the valley below, the Treetop apartment is aptly named. From your comfortable bed, gaze out the window at the trees below and – past the treetops – the mountains across the valley. The lounge area, outside deck and hot tub share the same outlook. Huntingdon Tier is also home to a pair of wedge tailed eagles whose nest is located only 200 metres away. They can be seen drifting through the valley most days.
For those that are a little more adventurous, a private natural cave can be found just 30 metres below your apartment. Intended to be used as a meditation space (or a picnic!) you will find a rug and cushions for your comfort.
The roomy hot tub is completely private despite 180 degree views of the valley below and is the perfect place to soak away the stress of the outside world. The water is naturally heated by a wood fire which takes two to three hours to reach temperature (a little more on freezing winter days) – but is definitely worth the wait. However, please let us know your estimated time of arrival in the days leading up to your stay to arrive to a pre-lit fire and warm hot tub!
If enjoying local produce sounds appealing, the kitchen is well equipped to cook up a Tasmanian feast. We supply the basics – olive oil, butter, salt, pepper, sugar, espresso coffee and local milk – so don’t forget to plan ahead and source your ingredients beforehand. The local IGA supermarket (located at Brighton) is a 20 minute drive and has a good selection of produce. If you’re travelling from the South we recommend the Hill Street Grocer in West Hobart as the best place to pick up your groceries as they have a wonderful selection of delicious Tasmanian produce.
If the weather is wintry (Tasmania isn’t typically known for sunshine, although we do get some!), cosy up by the indoor wood heater or enjoy the in-built fire in the hot tub outdoors.
The bus is accessed by an all-weather dirt track that is approximately 300m long and is suitable for small 2WD vehicles all year round.
